From dialogue to action: AGES launches its education transformation agenda in Dodoma

A shared direction for education

The forum followed the AGES Tanzania Mainland feasibility study, which examined education needs and implementation conditions across institutions. It brought the conversation from research findings to the partnerships needed to address them.

AGES called for stronger collaboration between Government, universities, teachers’ institutions, development partners, the private sector and international education partners in support of Tanzania’s ongoing education reforms.

During the event, the Government reaffirmed its readiness to work with partners whose initiatives support national priorities, including curriculum delivery, teacher capacity development, digital learning, technology and responsible use of artificial intelligence.

Putting educators at the centre

A central part of the agenda is the proposed Centre of Excellence for Educator Development, Teaching Excellence, Digital Education and Education Innovation. AGES is advancing its establishment in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, the University of Dodoma (UDOM), the Tanzania Education Authority (TEA) and the Tanzania Teachers’ Union (TTU).

The Centre will focus on teachers, tutors, instructors and education leaders. Its work will connect practical professional development with digital pedagogy, curriculum delivery, innovation and locally relevant solutions for Tanzania’s education system.

Extending learning into the workplace

Alongside its primary educator-development mission, the Centre will pursue a secondary objective of supporting skills development for workers and professionals. This will involve collaboration with corporates, manufacturers, employers, sector-based institutions and professional bodies.

Practical short courses, professional development programmes and certification-linked training are part of that direction, with an emphasis on workplace skills, productivity and employability.

The work ahead

The forum established a public direction for AGES’s work: connect education priorities with the people, institutions and implementation partners able to act on them. The Centre remains an initiative under development, with collaboration central to its establishment.
